working at General Electric (GE) on gas turbine fuel gas and purge systems.

Boost to thermal design capability: Sept 09

Serck Services have also boosted their thermal design and mechanical analysis capability with top of the range software packages HTRI Xchanger Suite, Comsol Multiphysics CFD & FEA, Solid Edge ST 3D modelling and Finglow pressure vessel analysis. They are capable of modelling heat exchanger equipment and analysing the performance under various seismic, thermal,
vibration and mechanical loading situations in order to ensure that the units are capable of long service lives with minimal chance of failure.

Back to the Future: June 09

In the 1930’s and 1940’s Serck were heavily involved in designing and building coolers for combat aircraft, most notably the Spitfire. Today, enthusiasts and collectors work hard to keep a select number of these iconic aircraft in the air.

Our team have spent many hours trawling the archives and re-learning long forgotten skills so we can now build complete cooler groups for various versions of the Spitfire.

Understanding Pressure: June 09

Work is nearing completion on 24 high pressure natural gas heaters at our Coleshill works. This contract, worth in excess of £½ million, was secured in the face of tough competition on the basis of value and lead-time and, most crucially, quality, which is of course integral to our business.

The fixed stack shell and tube heat exchangers have been designed in-house, in accordance with PD5500 as well as the customer’s more detailed specification.
